Behind the Scenes

Pictures taken from the recording stage showing how the lighting and the background has been set up in order to create the atmosphere in the music video. Furthermore In comparison to the first draft, this time we have used extra lighting in order to fix the problem with the band and most importantly the lead singer being too much in the dark, meaning the audience can get a better glimpse of the singer.

The drummer has also been replaced seeing as the previous actor did not deliver the skills required to create the sense of realism in performance and although he was only present in the first draft during one shot, the issue was that there were no good shots I could use that would follow the beat of the song and make the performance look realistic.

Over all in comparison to the first draft the performance and the footage has been to a better standard.
After the performance has been recorded it was now required to record the narrative.

Final Cut

Before the editing could take place I had to make sure all the shots were named in order to make it easier to arrange and distinguish what shots I need to use.
Furthermore the shots that I will not use in creating the music video I have placed in the 'Mock Shots' folder.

Comments on the First Draft

I believe that for a first draft the music video was successful. We managed to experiment with the lighting and see what we can achieve using the lighting provided and the lighting that’s already in place. Furthermore the actors could get used to the performance and the song itself. What came to mind when watching the first draft was that the shots that we used were too long and more editing was required in order to make the song look faster pace in addition to making it look more entertaining for the audience. Additionally there was not enough narrative present at all, this was the main concert when creating the first draft, and this was due to the fact that there was not enough narrative footage in the first place due to the weather conditions and the equipment running out of battery during the recording. This resulted in us having to reschedule for another day and only hope for the weather to be how we want it. The narrative idea itself was possible to achieve, but in the end we decided to change it due to it being too problematic to record and we had to think of another narrative that would be possible for us to record without a fail and dependency on the weather conditions. Over all in the first draft the only thing that we thought was done to a good standard was the performance by the lead singer and the base player. However, the drummer had to either improve on the performance or be replaced due to him not keeping up to the beat thus ruining the feel of the song as the audience would focus on the drummers’ faults rather than the actual song. In order to improve it was decided to change the lighting by making it brighter especially on the lead singer and certainly adding more narrative to the music video. Once these changes will be made it will certainly improve the quality of the music video and make it more entertaining for the target audience.
